Our Commitment to Sustainability in Event Planning and Event Design

At WM Events, sustainability is more than a value—it’s a practice woven into everything we do.

From eco-conscious event design to mindful day-to-day operations, we’re committed to minimizing our environmental impact without compromising on creativity, style, or impact. For more than two decades, our team has implemented sustainable practices across our office, warehouse, and event production, and we’re proud to be a leader in green event planning.

Sustainability: A Core Value at WM Events

Sustainability at WM Events is a design and operations discipline. We start with design, prioritizing rental-first, modular builds and responsible materials so every element can be reused or repurposed. During production, we plan for diversion from day one: on-site sorting, donation workflows, and vendor standards keep waste low while maintaining creative flexibility. Behind the scenes, our operations reduce everyday impact through energy-smart facilities, responsible purchasing, and hybrid schedules. The result is beautiful experiences that measure up, from the first sketch to the final load-out.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: A Daily Practice

We prioritize creative reuse and efficient recycling every day:

  • Diverting over 5,564 cubic feet of traditional recyclables annually (the volume of 1,000 bathtubs!)
  • Recycling toner cartridges and batteries
  • Reusing packing materials for transporting florals and event props
  • Using compostable china, glassware, and reusable serveware in our offices and for client hosting
  • Avoiding single-use plastics and offering staff company-branded reusable water bottles

Upcycling

We don’t let our stunning printed backdrops and signage go to waste. When they’re no longer needed, we donate them to organizations that transform them into stylish recycled bags—an ideal giveaway for clients and partners. We also purchase pre-owned office furniture and design materials, supporting a circular economy whenever possible.

Energy Efficiency at Our Atlanta Headquarters

When we renovated our new headquarters, we built sustainability into the design:

  • LED lighting, dimmer switches, and motion sensors
  • Temperature-regulating window coverings
  • Partnering with local and eco-conscious vendors for building materials and office supplies

Sustainable Floral Design

With a full floral department onsite, we preserve and repurpose plant materials efficiently. Our grow room houses orchids, succulents, trees, and large plants, extending their life cycle. We also:

  • Choose chicken wire over floral foam for arrangements when possible
  • Consolidated floral and supply shipments
  • Donate post-event arrangements to extend their life

Goals & Roadmap

Our near-term focus is Standards, Partnerships, Certifications, and Reporting. We are formalizing venue and vendor sustainability standards so every scope begins with diversion, reuse, and responsible sourcing requirements. We’re expanding our donation and upcycling network to give scenic, signage, and florals a second life across more markets.

Our team is pursuing targeted education and certifications to deepen expertise and align with best practices. We will publish an Annual Impact Report each Q1, sharing year-over-year KPIs and next-year targets so clients can see progress and plans in one place—keeping us accountable as we scale sustainable design and production.
