WM Events Event Planner + Designer Candel Fisher knows what she likes, and that list – and every day – starts with two Venti Starbucks — one iced, one hot, one with an extra shot.  Although she’s a big fan of lunchtime Chick-fil-A, she’s happiest when drenched – in sweat, from working out. Candel she also enjoys returning to nature back home in Arkansas and likes interacting with the WM Events team so much, she prefers being in the office to working from home. When our corporate client scheduled its annual conference in New Orleans, a thousand participants headed to a hotel in the business district for the daytime meeting. But when the sun met the horizon, guests boarded SUVs, minibuses, and motorcoaches to head to the Elms Mansion on St. Charles Avenue. It was a short distance to travel, but it brought them to another world – a journey through time to the Gilded Age where everything sparkled and the entertainment rivaled even the best Mardi Gras celebration.

Famous for its streetcar, St. Charles Avenue is recognized for its Queen Anne mansions and lush greenery. Nestled in this charming and elegant environment, simply dripping with history, the Elms Mansion offered the perfect setting for a party of this magnitude with plenty of space – 4,000 square feet to be precise. In our typical fashion, we took advantage of every inch and then some. With lighting as our muse, we decked it out in a thoroughly golden glow.

From this special venue in a city known for its ability to throw an outstanding party, WM Events turned up the volume to produce this ‘gilded in the garden’ soirée.

Elevating the Exterior 

As guests arrived at the mansion, they entered the property through an 8-ft. starburst circle, setting the tone for the spectacular setting that awaited them. Passing through the circle, attendees found themselves in a massive tent with a transparent ceiling. Strung with tiny lights, it mimicked the night sky, while below luxurious furniture groupings in golden velvet tones brought a surprising high-end vibe to the outdoor setting. To this, we added nostalgic touches like chandeliers, a double-sided 12-ft. Vegas gold feather crescent lit with uplights, fringe drapery, an oversized golden leaf installation, and more opulent touches like luscious floral installations to enhance the atmosphere.

And that was just the tent.

  

      

   

As guests continued toward the house, they crossed an open space with existing stone pavers topped by similarly welcoming furniture arrangements and décor. In the permanent pagoda they might have spotted a feathered dancer in a champagne coupe, while a glance at the mansion’s upper windows would have offered a glimpse of dancer silhouettes in the window. It was all part of the glam, and to make sure it sparkled, we strung market lights across the entire spacious area.

Next-Level Décor

There was even more to experience inside the Victorian mansion. Within the splendor of the already ornate rooms, we added dozens of tables draped with linens in shades of blue and paired with gold patterns. Elegant centerpieces and multiple golden votives made the most of the décor with its elaborate boiserie, crystal chandeliers, and stained-glass windows.

To set the stage for the evening’s performances, we enhanced the architecture with colorful lighting we changed throughout the night. Other simple additions to the already striking venue like musical instruments and styling of the existing furniture added on-theme elements to the space, making it truly a one-night-only opportunity.

   

       

Raising the Bar

If food and beverage can make or break any event, we’d say that is even more the case in New Orleans, where culinary traditions and libations are taken seriously. We delivered in the VIP reception with oyster shooters, ricotta stuffed dates wrapped with prosciutto, lamb chop lollipops, and vegetarian crostini.

At the main event, we got the night started with passed hors d’oeuvres selected to highlight the best of the Big Easy like Natchez meat pies, crab cakes with remoulade, devilish deviled eggs, and black bean cakes with coriander cream sauce. But we were just getting started because the main banquet was a deconstructed buffet that allowed guests to customize their repast. Highlights included charcuterie, herb-crusted beef tenderloin, salmon with greens and gorgonzola, a macaroni and cheese bar with toppings like applewood smoked bacon and truffle oil, and shrimp with stoneground grits. Before the evening ended, we broke out the beignets and macaroons. How could we not?

     

   

Specialty cocktails provided a modern take on the pre-Prohibition era with French 75s, old fashions, and espresso martinis, while a premium bar allowed guests to order their favorite spirits. Chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet, sparkling wine, and craft beers catered to those with a taste for something less energetic.

Scaling Up the Entertainment 

We’ve already mentioned the shadow dancers in the second-story windows and the champagne coupe performer, and the light-filled night vibrated with a variety of additional extraordinary entertainers and installations. A golden angel wings photo backdrop with a vintage photo booth looked antique but allowed for digital sharing in addition to on-site printing. To heighten the authenticity factor, the photos featured a selection of filters – vintage, sepia, and black & white.

Roaming and pop-up cabaret performers like contortionists, hand-balancers, lollipop acrobats, and fire eaters caused a stir wherever they went. Throughout the evening, guests encountered tarot readers, a typewriter poet, and a magician – all telling tales of the past, present, and future.

   

   

     

In the parlor, a six-piece jazz band offered tunes that meandered through the ages in chronological order. Outside, DJ King Lonz performed his hybrid mix of spinning and horns. Earlier in the evening, the VIP reception had offered a celebration of brass to get the party started on the right note.

From the moment the guests entered through the golden circle, this party transported them to a long-ago era when society had its challenges, but knowing how to throw a great party wasn’t one of them.

At WM Events, we love to make a big impact with our events, creating life-long memories and the photos to go with them. But when it comes to the environment, we want our impact to be as low as possible. So we focus on sustainability in everything we do from how we run the office and warehouse to the lifecycle of event décor and where all the flowers go when the party ends.

In fact, sustainability is one of our core values. 

And we’re not alone in understanding the importance of increased environmental stewardship in the events industry. Case in point – BizBash named “Sustainable Design” as one of the top trends for brand experiences in 2025.

Of course, we understand, sustainable design is more than a trend. It’s a foundation from which to begin event planning and business practices more broadly. Today, sustainability goes way beyond recycling plastic bottles (or better yet, avoiding them all together).

In Special Events magazine, Events.com president, co-founder and COO stated, “It is no longer just about reducing waste but rethinking how gatherings can leave a positive footprint from start to finish.”

For all of our two decades, we’ve made an effort to reuse or repurpose event décor. And we’ve had a longstanding program bringing floral arrangements from yesterday’s event to senior living communities and nursing homes, as well as donating them to nonprofits for their offices or events.

Through the years, our focus on sustainability has grown, and today it has become so central to who WM Events is as a company, our own Chris Nelson holds the title event operations and sustainability manager. Chris has spearheaded numerous programs to track and improve our footprint, and new efforts are also on the horizon. Additionally, Chris will work toward earning two professional certificates for sustainability in the events industry this year.

     

Here’s a bit more about what WM Events has achieved under Chris’ guidance:

Composting

We work with CompostNow, a B Corp Certified provider of organics recycling, through its commercial program to keep waste out of trash and landfills and turn it into soil-enriching humus. Each week, the service collects our 65-gallon containers (we have three!) and brings us clean ones. CompostNow also brings us humus to use in our gardens.

Because we receive regular Impact Reports, we’re able to share the quantifiable results of this program. In the first four months of 2025, we have diverted 1,849 pounds of waste, created 185 pounds of compost, and avoided 192 pounds of methane and 4,808 pounds of CO2.

     

   

Reducing, Reusing, Recycling

To reduce our impact even more, we’re constantly on the lookout for creative ways to give products we use a second life.

Of course, it all starts with recycling, so we’re adamant about making sure we do. As far as weekly recycling, which includes paper, cardboard and plastic, based on the size of our bin, we keep 5,564 cubic feet of materials out of the trash each year. To put it another way, that’s about the volume of 1,000 bathtubs – enough for our entire team to enjoy a Sunday spa day almost every week.

In addition to recycling these traditional items, we take toner cartridges to Office Depot, and we’ve brought them 23 already this year. Plus, we’ve recently added battery recycling to our repertoire, including AA, AAA and others. While we are targeting using only LED rechargeable products for lighting and other applications, not everything is available in that format yet, so we still need to choose battery-powered items in some cases. But we don’t want those batteries to end up in landfills.

We also reuse packing materials from deliveries to package our florals and props for transport to our events.

In our break rooms and kitchens, as well as when hosting visitors, we choose glass and china over plastic for serveware, glasses and flatware as much as possible. (This is a habit we picked up a long time ago when planning an eco-friendly wedding in Colorado.) We also avoid plastic water bottles and encourage employees to use the company-branded water bottles we provide. When we can’t make reusable selections, we opt for recyclable or compostable versions.

We are big fans of purchasing pre-owned/used office equipment and design materials, sourcing everything from desks to heavy warehouse racks to tile from liquidation houses and specialty sales.

Now here’s one we think is really fun! As often as possible we reuse or encourage clients to save and reuse printed fabric graphics like signage, backdrops and step-and-repeats. When it’s time to retire them, we donate them to an organization that turns them into recycled bags. They make excellent gifts.

     

Getting Off the Road

If our composting efforts can be equated to the number of miles not driven (5,398 for the first four months of 2025), we also track actual miles not driven by our employees. By allowing members of our sales, design and floral departments to work from home one or more days a week, we decrease vehicle emissions.

Chris calculated the distance of each applicable team member’s round-trip commute to determine the total of each person’s CO2 savings per year based on 48 weeks of driving. With more than a dozen team members included in this program, our 12-month work-from-home allowances saved 13,795 pounds of CO2, or roughly the amount of CO2 about 287 trees could absorb in a year.

   

Lowering Energy Consumption at Our Headquarters

As you may know, our Atlanta headquarters is new to us. WM Events founder William Fogler firs encountered it as a dilapidated building and reimagined it into a modern structure with curb appeal and eye-catching interiors to house our offices, a massive warehouse, the floral department, conference rooms and more. In renovating the building, William included eco-conscious construction choices like LED lighting, dimmer switches, motion sensors and temperature-regulating window coverings.

When it comes to working and partnering with other organizations, we start by sourcing materials and equipment from local and regional vendors and give priority to those that are also eco-conscious.

Being Evergreen

Since moving to our new headquarters, we’ve been thrilled to have an entire floral department. This has enabled us to store and preserve flowers longer in our walk-in cooler, which in turn has made it possible to receive fewer, larger shipments. In its full capacity, our internal grow room sustains the life and usability of trees, large plants, orchids and succulents. We also choose chicken wire over floral foam, which is more sustainable and can be used more than once.

And because we keep the flora so fresh, arrangements usually retain their beauty for several days or even a week after they make an appearance at one of our events. Rather than immediately toss them into the compost bin, we give them a second life through our donation program to local nonprofits and senior care communities or through client and staff giveaways.

       

Putting Our Best Footprint Forward

This description of our current sustainability efforts is just the beginning. We have plenty of additional strategies already planned, like the efficacy of purchasing renewable energy credits. With the goal of earning sustainability certifications, our sustainability manager Chris will undoubtedly learn about more opportunities and practices that will move us forward in our effort to be the best environmental stewards we can be.

To put it succinctly, we want to make sure more than just our logo is green!

   

 

This party was more than two years in the making, and it leveraged our two decades of experience being the life of a party. On the most special of special days, we welcomed more then 300 of our favorite folks to our newly renovated Atlanta headquarters for our ribbon cutting and grand opening. We treated them to some entertaining speeches that made us laugh and cry, live music, interactive high-tech installations, curated food and beverage offerings, and guided tours of our incredible building.

From the valet service in the resurfaced parking lot to the al fresco presentations and the indoor party atmosphere, we designed an afternoon of joy—exactly what we felt welcoming everyone to our new home.

There was music from Jabari outside and a DJ, bongos and sax trio from Zegi inside. Additional highlights included roaming oyster and caviar “girls” from Oysters XO, the Atlanta sports teams theme in the warehouse, the AI photobooth, passed hors d’oeuvres and a full spread in the kitchen, bubbly from the ATL Fizzy beverage cart (aka Italian Piaggio Vespacar!) and cocktails inside, a hands-on antique letterpress activity from Noush Studios, delightful spring weather we’re totally taking the credit for, and the most charming guests anyone could ask for.

                 

Because the date of the grand opening was also William’s birthday, there was a beautiful three-tiered cake from Santini Sweets, a presentation of a gift from the team, and even a flambé baked Alaska (attendees at William’s speech know why).

Our floral team outdid themselves with stunning installations from floor to ceiling in combinations of our WM Events colors – gorgeous white flowers and lush green foliage or eye-catching arrangements with all the colors of our trademark confetti.

And speaking of confetti, once William, Leigh, and Kristy cut the ribbon, a cannon high above blasted brightly colored paper bits into the air.

WM Events Atlanta Headquarters Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening

ATLANTA (April 28, 2025) — Full-service event house WM Events hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening at its Atlanta headquarters last month.

Welcoming more than 300 guests, including dignitaries from the City of Hapeville, Atlanta business leaders and philanthropists, and hospitality and events industry professionals, the event showcased speeches, live music, interactive high-tech installations, curated food and beverage offerings, and guided tours of the newly refurbished building.

“This is more than a celebration,” said William Fogler, founder and principal of WM Events. “It is a testament to the power of manifesting your dreams, perseverance, vision and the ability to seek beauty in almost anything.”

A two-and-a-half-year journey, the newly completed headquarters is visible from I-75 and makes a bold statement with its painted exterior featuring massive WM Events logos, color palette and graphic elements on all sides. The 13,000-sq.-ft. commercial building includes offices, warehousing, meeting/conference space, a floral department and more.

H.J. Russell & Co. oversaw renovation of the building, taking it from a derelict state to its current amenity-filled condition, which boasts functionality as a daily work environment, as well as client reception space and logistics facilities. Fogler worked with designer Robert Gaul on the interior design of the headquarters, infusing it with modern industrial style that takes advantage of the lofty ceilings and open spaces.

In addition to Fogler, speakers at the ribbon cutting included Pastor Myron Cloyd; Eslene Richmond-Shockley, president & CEO, Caring For Others Inc.; Leigh Simpson, CMP, director of sales & design, WM Events; and Mike Rast, alderman at large, City of Hapeville.

Aquarius – Innovative, Philosophical, Progressive, Humanitarian

January 20–February 18

Lovers of humanitarian efforts, an Aquarius would certainly enjoy the Hope and Will Ball, a major fundraising effort for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. It was a dazzling affair dedicated to celebrating resilience and the power of community. Hosted at the beautiful St. Regis Atlanta, the inspirational event radiated elegance and warmth, drawing together supporters united by a common cause. 

For this important annual event, we created a captivating décor in a sophisticated black, white, and gold palette. From the spectacular branded dance floor to the bright white floral centerpieces, the ambiance reflected the spirit of hope, determination, and giving back.

   

Pisces – Romantic, Compassionate, Whimsical, Visionary

February 19–March 20

A romantic, visionary Pieces would feel right at home at the Atlanta History Center where we brought a bit of whimsy to the Education Gala, an annual award show and cocktail reception for Georgia universities. It was easy going green with our nature-inspired décor and lime-hued linens, which blended perfectly with the outdoor setting. 

This lush theme was extended indoors through verdant installations, cloche-topped floral centerpieces, and printed materials. Sponsor graphics, programs, souvenirs, and even desserts honored the idea of growth – for students and the organizations that serve them.

     

Aries – Bold, Strong, Brave, Competitive

March 21–April 19

Both bold and competitive, an Aries would find the F1 Grand Prix Hospitality event in Las Vegas just the thing to get them revved up. Hosted at the luxurious Cosmopolitan Hotel, this exclusive gathering welcomed 80 VIP guests for an unforgettable experience during the inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix on the iconic Las Vegas Strip.

Over three electrifying nights, the venue was transformed into a heart-racing hospitality suite with rooms and hallways designed to capture the thrill of high-speed competition while exuding sophistication. We used mirrors and LED lighting to deliver a total transformation. Each suited boasted its own theme, taking guests from a gaming room with a state-of-the-art race simulator to a speakeasy-style lounge with specialty cocktails and cigars, and then we cued the showgirls, of course. 

     

Taurus – Loyal, Stable, Reliable, Generous

April 20–May 20

The stability of a Taurus is well known, and at an 80th birthday party for Oma, we celebrated that very quality. The generous affair combined colorful florals and personal touches to honor a beloved family matriarch. 

Dinner was hosted poolside at a long series of end-to-end farm tables, bringing multiple generations together. We handled catering and décor, styling the home inside and out. An accordion player and pianist were chosen with Oma in mind. Following the presentation of a simple but elegant birthday cake, guests of all ages enjoyed a performance from a talented magician.

   

Gemini – Adaptable, Versatile, Perceptive, Outgoing

May 21–June 20

If Geminis know how to adapt, the four-night, four-location dinners we planned and executed at the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, would surely impress those born under this sign. We created multiple dinner looks for 20+ events at three houses, décor at a fourth space, and conducted ongoing set-up and strike throughout the week to make it all look effortless. 

Because the dinners took place outdoors, we built platforms, set up tents, constructed boxwood walls, and installed trellises. At night, market lights added warmth and ambiance, and we worked with a personal chef to craft the menus and meals for the discerning guests. Like a Gemini might tell you, change can be a good thing.  

     

Cancer – Nurturing, Intuitive, Protective, Steadfast

June 21–July 22

One event might not be enough for our Cancer friends who have so much love to give. So what better way to acknowledge their steadfast character than with a celebration of pride, love, and marriage? We’ve been fortunate to play a role in the weddings of many couples over the years, and these are some particularly special ones. 

The Free Spirit Wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel welcomed the grooms’ 50 guests and an astounding 1,200 bright-orange roses. At an elegant Lake Spivey wedding, the brides wore white, and the crisp and clean décor palette was achieved through a combination of white and silver. For a wedding high above Peachtree Street, we blended the grooms’ Southern roots with an appreciation of modern style. And when we were asked to plan a bright, custom 20th anniversary celebration in the Virgin Islands, the only answer was a resounding, “We will!” 

     

Leo – Confident, Charismatic, Creative, Ambitious

July 23–August 22

A Leo is always ready to “rise up” above the rest, making this Atlanta Falcons tailgate a perfect fit for this sign. Outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we created a full-on get-pumped experience for thousands of attendees before the game against the Dallas Cowboys. This meant erecting tents, stringing banners, bringing in furniture groupings, and adding games like cornhole and axe throwing, a live graffiti artist, a drum line, social media walls and much more. 

This successful event got fans hyped, and it must have worked. Final score? Atlanta 27 – Dallas 21.

   

Virgo – Perfectionist, Diligent, Analytical, Modest

​​August 23–September 22

Why not be like a Virgo and strive for perfection? The 10th anniversary event at Avalon Properties brought extreme elegance to the outdoor areas of this high-end district. With a modest black, white, and silver palette, the décor made the most of the environment, which provided the ideal backdrop to our vision. 

We created hundreds of white rose and foxglove centerpieces and floral arrangements and placed them everywhere we could. From the trees, we hung giant silver ornaments and added them to market light strands across the green. Below, a checkerboard dance floor welcomed all ages to show off their skills. This once-a-decade event was a true 10 out of 10 – just perfect.

      

Libra – Empathetic, Balanced, Enjoyable, Aesthete

September 23–October 22

The NCR Networking Event in Nashville was a masterful blend of professional development and social connection, creating an atmosphere of perfect harmony and balance. Thoughtful design promoted a sense of equilibrium, and the evening offered attendees entertainment like magicians and musicians that catered to both mingling and fun. 

What brought it all together was the way we harmonized the charming décor with the delightful setting at the Gaylord Opryland Water’s Edge. Bright florals and colorful linens, some with a wavy, batik-like pattern, generated a calming, thoughtful ambiance to encourage geniality — the type of environment a Libra would truly appreciate. 

     

Scorpio – Intense, Passionate, Fiery, Mysterious

October 23–November 21

Scorpios know passion, and Lovie’s 60th birthday party in Atlanta would be certain to appeal to this instinct with its velvet furniture, jewel palette, and intense lighting. Held at the Electric Room, this event welcomed the honoree’s family and friends to a luxurious setting that held back nothing in memorable décor.

We infused the space with reds and hot pinks, which gave us plenty to work with in the floral department. An abundance of glowing lighting picked up the shimmer of the gold and metallic accents. And the place to be? The red velvet sofa beneath the botanical wall with a neon “Lovie” shining hot and bright in the center.

      

Sagittarius – Spontaneous, Storytellers, Adventurous, Friendly

November 22–December 21

A Sagittarius is nearly always ready to take flight, so what better place to support their dreams of adventure than the Delta Flight Museum? At an annual award event held in this incredible space, we honored the celestial theme in each element from entering the museum along a red carpet crowned with twinkling market lights to passing through the boarding tunnel enchanted with a 40-by-6-ft. black dance floor studded with tiny lights. 

Long rows of tables sparkled with hundreds of lit votives, casting their light to play off the glassware. The after party went totally galactic with an LED dance floor, mirrored disco dancers, and an out-of-this-world DJ.  

   

Capricorn – Hardworking, Disciplined, Persistent, Patient

December 22–January 19

If Capricorns are hardworking, who better to exemplify their spirit than one of the world’s most successful athletes? We chose the Magic Johnson Soiree as the ideal event for this unstoppable goat sign. Held at the Fox Theatre, this event made the most of the venue’s timeless ballroom and balcony. We worked hard to give it a new look and feel by pairing cool blues with warm orange and gold while also honoring the building’s stone-look surfaces and architectural style. 

The furniture and lounge groupings, bursting floral arrangements, designer linens, and branded elements blended to become a spectacular setting for his event held in partnership with the NMSDC.

    

 

During the past 20 years, we’ve produced holiday events from annual corporate parties to private celebrations and event grand public parades. As we continue through this most festive season, we’re taking a look back at some of our favorite holiday fetes. Come along!  

Atlantic Station Light the Station Tree Lighting and Parade

There’s no parade like a holiday parade! We’ve been fortunate to work with Atlantic Station for several years, producing the annual holiday event that draws thousands of attendees, including jolly old Saint Nick himself! Here are images from a few of these years.

   

   

Starry Night at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta

A corporate holiday party at the Fox Theatre provided the perfect backdrop to bring Van Gogh’s iconic Starry Night to life. This event subtly yet effectively highlighted the painting’s inspiration. Emphasizing the starry theme, we infused the space with an abundance of light candlelight, creating a dazzling, magical evening.

      

A Holiday Polar Express 

We assisted the Westin Buckhead with celebrating employees by producing an annual holiday party inspired by the Polar Express but perfect for discerning adults. 

   

A Very Glitzy Holiday

For a high-end celebration for the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Atlanta (EO), we channeled the Harlem Renaissance and went full Gatsby at the Puttin’ on the Glitz holiday event. 

   

Themes From the Slopes to Holiday Lights

We brought an après ski theme to a corporate party at Whitley Hotel.

   

Nothing says holiday lights like disco, and we loved this throwback party at the Four Seasons.

New Landmark Adds Excitement to I-75:

WM Events Unveils Headquarters Minutes from Atlanta Downtown and Airport  

 

ATLANTA (Dec. 1, 2024) – Locals and visitors have a new landmark to behold on I-75 South just 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta with the opening of the WM Events headquarters in Hapeville, Ga.

Visible from I-75 and making a bold statement along the route to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the branded 13,000-sq.-ft. commercial building includes offices, warehousing, meeting/conference space, a floral department, future event space and more.

Located at 280 Mt. Zion Rd. Atlanta, Ga. 30354, the headquarters’ exterior reflects WM Events’ new brand identity, introduced earlier this year when the company reached its milestone 20th anniversary. Forest and vibrant green hues combine to form the logo, while playful, colorful confetti pieces add zest.

“Purchasing and renovating a commercial building was the next right step for WM Events,” said William Fogler, founder and principal of the full-service event house. “It was a two-year labor of love with many challenges along the way, but I learned a lot, and we grew as a team as we persevered through the experience. I am thrilled with what we have achieved.”

A Multifaceted Headquarters

Home to the WM Events office, the new headquarters includes enough space to comfortably house the current team of 25 and welcome another dozen or so in the future.

Visitors enter through the lobby, complete with a WM Events green sofa and Instagrammable suspended midcentury modern “Parrot” chairs. A spacious open-plan office is adjacent to several private offices, a conference room and guest work areas. A large kitchen with signature green cabinetry accommodates staff daily and offers possibilities for future on-site events.

Like a true design house, the building features a showroom where the company displays its range of inventory, such as linens, décor, furniture and lighting. The showroom allows both staff and clients to get hands-on with the elements used to create their event atmosphere – like a mood board brought to life.

And of course, space was set aside for hosting small to medium-size events. With the ability to connect to adjacent rooms, as well as two entry points, event space options are flexible enough to welcome 10 to 100 guests for workshops, meetings, receptions and more.

Warehousing It All

The back-of-house areas were strategically planned for efficiency. Within the massive warehouse, stocked with rows and rows of inventory, a charging wall ensures hundreds of specialty lighting fixtures are always ready to get an event glowing.

Known for its award-winning floral arrangements, WM Events now has a dedicated floral department. A giant built-in cooler provides holding space for flowers, arrangements made in advance, and storage for florals after events, allowing for better recycling and reuse in keeping with the company’s green theme!

The warehouse opens to two loading docks, making packing all the goodies into WM Events’ signature trucks a total breeze – or at least convenient for its expert operations team members.

When we hear the phrase, “the sky’s the limit,” we tend to believe it. And when we’re working with an extraordinary client and a spectacular venue, the stage is set for us to create an event that reaches new heights. In the case of the Delta Lead Conference at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we had the opportunity to transform 2 million square feet of space to create multiple environments that were exciting from within and looked even better from above.

Welcoming 3,000 attendees who are part of Delta’s international leadership team, this all-day conference kicked off early with a breakfast served throughout the stadium’s concourse. Breakfast was followed by presentations from the fully designed stage on the field, easily visible from a section of the stadium’s 75,000 seats. Finally, a globally themed closing reception featuring a variety of enticing installations took place on the field.

   

Transforming an Event Venue in Atlanta

In recasting the well-known stadium as a Delta conference space, we took full advantage of existing video technology and supplemented it with a variety of signage, brand-inspired drapery and promotional materials. For example, to create a consistent backdrop and hide unused spaces – as we already mentioned, Mercedes-Benz Stadium has a lot of space – we used drapery to hide walkways and hallways for a cozier feel in the dining area.

Because guests flew in from around the world, we provided a dedicated coat check and luggage storage, also privatized behind black drapery. And we installed four Delta step and repeats to accommodate photo taking and sharing by thousands of guests. Television screens already part of the venue displayed the conference logo.

By creating this encapsulated, branded backdrop, we were ready to take off.

   

Dining and Seating for 3,000 Guests

Before the speakers and conference activities got underway, guests had the chance to enjoy some early morning Southern hospitality. We knew airline employees would feel right at home roaming a concourse, so we utilized Concourse 100 as the site for the welcome breakfast. Throughout the level, which circles the entire building, we positioned 3,000 seats with a mixed collection of round and estate tables, communal highboys, and square and round cocktail tables. Chairs, ghost stools and metal counter stools offered a variety of seating options.

For the concourse dining, we used linens in Delta blues, both matte and metallic, complemented by silver, gray and pewter. Rustic centerpieces featuring succulents in bleached wooden boxes topped the tables. And because the same seating would be used for lunch, we utilized overlays to refresh the tables.

   

An International Reception

From stadium seats, attendees spent the day focused on the stage, which had been set up at the edge of the field. Behind the stage, blue drapery dropped from the ceiling, obscuring the view of the site of the evening reception, which was to be the main attraction.

To produce the reception décor, we collaborated with New York agency Engine Shop and designed multiple large installations for the field. Divided into dedicated sections based on international regions, the reception space provided a worldwide tour of food, each area with built-out sets. Fare was served buffet style from vignettes representing Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States. There was a special dessert space, and multiple bars to serve the thousands of guests.

   

The entrance to the Asia area was flanked by bamboo trees, and paper lanterns hung from 12- and 15-foot trusses with pipe covered in bamboo. We highlighted hues in black and brown with pops of navy silk patterns and featured Japandi-inspired furniture groupings with themed pillows and bonsai centerpieces. It all sat atop green turf, creating a calm, indoor-outdoor atmosphere.

Diagonally across the field, we really brought the boiserie to create the Europe area, offering a nod to movements from classicism to the Renaissance. Trusses were covered in a stone column graphic and hung with metal lanterns. Columns and busts flanked the entrance, and bare marble cocktail tables were topped with luxe centerpieces of white and pink roses.

   

Then we went bold in the Latin America area with a palette honoring bright tropical flowers – yellow, purple, green, fuchsia and turquoise. We didn’t hold back! The entryway frame was enclosed by a display of colorful floating umbrellas, while an egg swing chair grouping added a special touch of comfort. We chose terracotta pots for eco-friendly centerpieces of blooming cacti.

   

   

The final culinary space honored the healthy USA by including a presentation from an Olympian nutritionist who explained how to embrace a better diet. Here, we incorporated natural touches like trees, wooden columns resembling trees with hollows, and boxwood walls dripping with moss.

   

Not to take the healthy eating to an unhealthy obsession, the dessert bar was fashioned as a storefront – think café, bakery or sweet shop. It featured marble cocktail tables with bistro chairs, curved white bars with custom graphics and an 8-foot chalkboard menu. Two dessert carts were also set up at the far end of the field for guest convenience (it is 100 yards away, after all).

    

First-Class Seating

With the food areas and bars installed at the ends of the field, we placed all guest seating within a large middle circle. That totaled 1,450 seats at a mixed collection of tables and lounges, so there was a seat that would suit everyone.

Linens displayed Delta colors of navy and red with silver, pewter and graphic metallic accents. To add a beautiful glow, we placed nearly 500 votives among the tables. The field also included four large and four smaller lounge groupings with mid-century modern sofas, stools, end tables and round wood coffee tables. These were paired with a variety of decorative pillows in whiskey leather and white fur, as well as those branded in navy, red and the Delta logo.

In the center of it all, a DJ was elevated 15 feet in the air on a truss structure.

   

   

   

The floorplan made service and seating easy for guests, and the setting offered something to see from every direction. But the best view of the field could be had from the stands where the full layout was visible and graphic – just the kind of 30,000-foot view an airline would appreciate.

WM Events Celebrates 20th Anniversary with New Logo & Brand Identity

 

ATLANTA (June 10, 2024) – In celebration of 20 successful years in business, full-service event house WM Events today introduced its new logo and brand identity.

For two decades, the Atlanta-based firm has provided sky-high standards and leveraged creative partnerships to plan, design and produce corporate events, weddings and social events, nonprofit fundraisers, meetings and conferences, tradeshows, festivals and more. With a diverse and multidisciplinary team, the company has focused on personalizing events to give its clients the experience of couture.

“Launching WM Events as a newcomer to Atlanta 20 years ago took a leap of faith – one that I was excited to make,” said William Fogler, founder and principal. “Today, I still feel that same excitement as our team continues to grow, we get to know new clients, and we continue learning and innovating to stay at the forefront of what this thrilling industry has to offer.”

The team worked with the powerhouse NYC brand strategist Ryan Lynch to update the company identity. Alicia Terry developed the 2024 brand voice, and graphic designer Isabella Ossott redefined the logo. Honoring the company’s evolution and growth with three thicker lines, slanted and joined by thin up marks, the shape of the. new logo represents both the W and the M of WM Events, with a more graphic impression that expects recognition over reading.

While the brand palette remains among green hues, they are simultaneously bolder and darker and accompanied by colorful confetti that honors both the milestone anniversary and the company’s function.

The refreshed WM Events look is appearing now on the company’s website, additional owned media, uniforms and more. It is already making a big splash on the exterior of the new company headquarters in Hapeville, Ga., slated to open later this year.

Here’s where it all started!

William engaged Atlanta personality Baton Bob to help him announce the launch of the company.

Even so, William was still making waves in Denver, and he was featured in the Style section of the Denver Post.

Quickly known as a trendsetter on the East Coast too, William was asked by Brides magazine to share his top-pick products in his favorite color. For Southern Seasons, he also suggested best options for a welcoming guest gift basket.

So many weddings

And speaking of weddings, the Northside Neighbor sat down with William to learn how the WM Events team made sure even the father of the groom expressed his joy … in a pink boa.

 

There were a lot of weddings in those early days, and we were even featured on the prestigious Grace Ormonde website, while one of our favorite celebrations was featured in Jezebel magazine.

 

Even while WM Events was aiding so many couples in achieving wedded bliss, the team was also handling plenty of other types of events like nonprofit fundraisers, corporate events, social events and more. The team was featured in BizBash more than once, including this feature “5 Ways to Rethink the Standard Benefit Gala,” and our director of sales + design Leigh Simpson (née Clemmons) offered important event planning advice for pros in Special Events magazine. Most recently, William was featured on Canvas Rebel sharing his secrets to success.

 

 

Numerous award recognitions

For these, the team was honored with multiple Allie Awards like Best Themed Event Decor for a Microsoft event and Best Floral for the Tuscan autumn wedding, Best Corporate or Association Event for the Centennial Yards groundbreaking, Best Social Event for a Savannah chic anniversary, another Best Social Event for a rooftop 60th birthday celebration, and Best Non-Profit Fundraiser for TechBridge’s Digital Ball. We also earned a nomination for a Gala Award from Special Events Magazine, and William was recognized with the Dale Riggins Humanitarian Award in 2021.

 

 Now that we’ve looked back, we are even more enthusiastic about moving into the future. Here’s to the next 20 years! 🥳
