The Disruptive Innovation Summit

Usher’s New Look brought together 300 youth leaders, ages 17 – 24, from all over the world on July 20th & 21st for their 1st annual Disruptive Innovation Summit. Presented by Usher’s New Look and General Elective, the summit was hosted at SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves’ new home! Over the span of 2 days, the WM Events team and Usher’s New Look treated these students to an experience unlike any other.

Each day, students were welcomed to registration by 6′ UNL letters at the 3rd Base Gate. Concrete floor clings of inspiring quotes and a 3-dimensional display of “Disruptivator” guided guests to both day’s sessions. The students were inspired to be an innovative thinker and a “disruptivator” each day as they heard from famous athletes, motivational speakers, Internet personalities and stars, and Usher himself!

But the fun didn’t end there. Day 1 concluded with the Disruptivator’s Ball, where students and sponsors set up their own “Dream Market” booths to promote ideas. Students were able to participate in voting on the issues at an Ideation Tower, as well as connect their issues to their sparks with a String Art wall – event must haves!. Live music entertainment had the students dancing all night, from Cashae and Eric Stanley to Ayo & Teo! The most incredible moment of the night was Mayor Kasim Reed presenting Usher’s New Look with a $20,000 investment!

Day 2 kicked off with an intensive silent disco-like yoga session by Atmasphere. Students then invested in panel discussions, and working together to create their own app ideas – they even had the chance to get up on stage and perform songs, spoken word, and dance. A fiber-optic drape with the phonetic of Disruptive posed as the perfect backdrop for this 2 day summit!
