For many years, we have enjoyed producing events at the Atlanta History Center. It could be the variety of private event spaces that make it such an incredible venue for nearly any type of event, or it might be the local tradition that seeps from every nook.

With 33 acres of gardens, historic houses and special areas, the Atlanta History Center has offered us a site for numerous one-of-a-kind events during the past 16 years. And now, we are thrilled to announce that WM Events has been named one of the Atlanta History Center’s preferred vendors.

In celebration of our next status, here’s a look back at a few events we’ve held at center during the years, including one that brought home top honors from the 28th Annual Allie Awards!

Savannah Chic Anniversary

The Swan House was the site of a surprise 40th wedding anniversary that had special meaning to us because the happy couple happened to be the parents of the bride at the first wedding WM Events planned in Atlanta. The stars were aligned for this anniversary party, and we pulled off the major surprise without a hitch.

We took the party from the garden, where the wife’s friends and family waited in secret, to the Grand Overlook Ballroom, which we styled with a midnight in the garden of Savannah theme (just the good garden, of course), even bringing in a replica “Bird Girl” statue. With lush trees and hanging plants, we created this intimate garden in the middle of the Atlanta History Center.

The event delighted the surprised wife, and later, it delighted judges too, winning WM Events an Allie Award for Best Social Event.

Pretty in Pink

A total change of pace from the lush Savannah garden, we once painted the Atlanta History Center pink! Ok, not with real paint. We accomplished a Pinkalicious look for the annual Pink Party hosted by our friends at Peachtree Tents & Events with soft pink uplighting, vases of pink water with floating candles and rose gold accents.

In the museum, guests sipped pink champagne before walking the pink carpet to the main event space where they were greeted by bubble tiles, sheer drapery and lavish floral arrangements. One of our favorite touches was the petaled pink linens we used on some of the highboy tables.

Holiday Celebration

Don’t let the word “history” fool you – the Atlanta History Center also makes a great spot for a thoroughly modern event. Case in point – the Silver Chic Holiday Party we designed in the Grand Overlook Ballroom. With an entrance dotted with glowing orbs, decadent lounge seating, wintery florals and a twinkle-pattern ceiling, this corporate celebration looked to the future not the past.

A Tour and More

The Atlanta History Center has plenty to offer beyond its event venues. When we were tasked with entertaining 100+ attendees at the Simon-Kucher & Partners annual meeting, we took the mostly European visitors to the center to learn more about our city. In addition to viewing the museum’s exhibits, they visited Cyclorama with senior military historian Dr. Gordon L. Jones and explored the Swan House with a knowledgeable docent. We do feel like we sent them home with more understanding of the South.

And now, we’re looking forward to making many more memories with the Atlanta History Center!
