WM Events and Peachtree Tents & Events Win at NACE Design Trends
Congratulations to the Peachtree Tents and Events Table Top at the NACE Design Trends competition and the Bridal Extravaganza. Held at 200 Peachtree this past Sunday and Monday, the event was a major success. We partnered with Peachtree Tents and Events, Dwayne Bass with his innovative Rubblox furniture, Christian Ruffin at One Stop Productions, and Dee Lane Eades at Graceful Tables to make a lively table covered in moss, succulents, ferns, and other greenery. Mixing a stainless steel table, an antique barn door, rubber furniture, and lots of living plants was an inventive twist that added visual and textural interest. Tell us what you think in the comments below!

AmericasMart Atlanta Gift Show
Atlanta is no stranger to landmarks. With the worlds largest aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, the busiest airport in the world, and Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta is steeped in a rich history and a modern progression. But the average Atlantan and the world at large might not know of a certain gem in the heart of downtown known as AmericasMart. The Mart is comprised of four integrated, John Portman designed buildings that offer over 7.7 million square feet of showrooms, tradeshow floors, and meetings spaces. With 15 annual markets, over 500,000 visitors come from all over the world to shop and sell wholesale products in various categories like High Design, Apparel, Gift, Rug, and Furniture.
If you’ve never been before, it can be quite overwhelming, most likely because your are in Building 1 on the 22nd floor trying to get to the 10th floor of Building 2 West Wing. Bridges connect between the buildings, but only on certain floors! So you really have no know where you’re going, or else your shopping will be all screwed up. AmericasMart is not open to the public. In order to be admitted, a buyer must provide proof of a valid business license and show identification at a registration office. We went to the Mart this past week to shop for various clients of ours. So be expecting a few updates of the great new products we found!

Pink Power Moms Arrive in Atlanta!
Moms are special people. From the love notes in your lunch box to their all-purpose cleaning saliva, they know how to do just about anything and make you feel like you’re the only person in the world. And that’s exactly how we wanted to make these 40 Pink Power Moms feel during a weekend of festivities and celebrations around Atlanta. For the last 4 years, Kids II, Inc. has honored 8 worthy women who have survived breast cancer and then gone on to do something monumental by presenting them with a $5,000 award and a pampering weekend in Atlanta. This landmark year brought 32 Legacy Moms back to join the 8 new Pink Power Moms in a spectacular 5 Year Anniversary spectacular. Take a look below at the phenomenal photography of Patrick Williams, and a few descriptions of what the Pink Power Mom weekend was all about!
The weekend began with a pink-ified gift basket presentations as the Moms checked in to Twelve Hotel at Atlantic Station on Friday evening. After gathering in the lobby, everyone walked together from the hotel over to The Grape for an intimate meet and greet, filled with fabulous food, wonderful wines, and a delectable dessert bar. Yahgo Entertainment’s Atlanta Soul Band rocked the socks off all the guests with smooth, swinging sounds. And Balloonacy added that extra POP to the delectable decor with multiple arrangements of thematic balloons!

Saturday morning began with individual spa treatments for each Mom in their hotel room, followed by a some free time for shopping around Atlantic Station. But the real fun began Saturday night at the High Museum of Art. As guests arrived at the pink carpet entrance, they were greeted by Absolute Entertainment’s gorgeous Pink Ladies suited up in shocking pink. Inside the Taylor Lobby entrance, Event Scapes decorated space with 10 foot ribbons covered in pink carnations, and decorated the tables with stunning centerpieces. Spectacularly, Magnum Lighting Company washed the entire room in magentas and fuchsias, adding gobos and break-ups for visual interest.
Guests then moved through a Pink Power Mom Hall of Fame, chomping on Legendary Events‘ legendary catering, where they could read blurbs about all the Moms and their charities. Arriving in the Robinson Atrium, all the attendees were amazed at the decorative pink fabric panels hanging from the curved banister, the spandex screen, and the exceptional stage set. A short congratulatory video by Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives kicked off the presentation, where a ballyhoo ushered in the 5 classes from different areas of the room. Each class was led by a Pink Lady carrying banners with key words such as Hope, Courage, and Inspiration before the 2011 Moms were presented with their award checks. Guests then partied the night away, dancing to the musical stylings of Atlanta Party Band, capturing memories at the instant photo booth provided by Button It Up Photography, and catching the new Picasso to Warhol exhibit upstairs.

Sunday morning, the Moms and their guests woke up to a brilliant brunch at Lobby at Twelve. This final goodbye was bittersweet, and a perfect closing to a perfect weekend. But the festivities were not yet over for the 2011 Moms! They boarded the bus and enjoyed the Kids II Suite for a great Falcons Football game at the Georgia Dome. The weekend was a total success! Let us know what you think about the event in the comments below!

WM Design Find: ART Arils Removal Tool
Pomegranates are delicious. (Pomegranates dipped in chocolate are even more delicious). Extracting all those magnificent morsels is NOT delicious. And now that it’s finally that time of year to partake in this fantastical fruit, we wanted to help you avoid those stained counter tops and worn fingernails by introducing Shoham’s ART. Short for Arils (the seed casings) Removal Tool, the ART is a brilliant concept that anyone can use. The directions tell you to Cover. Hold. Strike. and Eat., but we suspect it’s a little more complicated than that. At the very least, it’s by far a more exciting way to prepare the seed for your Sparkling Berry Punch and Pomegranate Cheesecake. Visit their online store to pick one up and see for yourself.

WM Events’ Halloween Hollywood Heaven!
We’re talking Old Hollywood for this gruesome celebrity costume party- like OLD old Hollywood- like DEAD old Hollywood. In this party inspiration we’re taking to the hills to create a scary soiree guests will never forget. Invite your closest friends and family to join your frightful fete by dressing up like their favorite dead celebrity, keeping in mind the way in which they actually kicked the bucket; it’ll be more fun if everyone stays in character!
Welcome guests to your home with a blood red carpet regal enough for Hollywood royalty, and creepy enough for an October 31st night. As they strut their zombie stuff, you can offer red paint for walk-of-fame handprints. Blood orange martini’s, severed lady fingers, and chocolate covered insects are perfect treats for an undead guest. They can also enjoy a spooky display of candy pills, candy rope, and sour candy arsenic with accompanying coffin gift bags for a Pick Your Poison Candy Bar.
Guests will have a blast acting out their celebrity deaths in a game of Creepy Charades. Or have a friend dressed up as a tabloid reporter interviews your visitors for some chilling coverage of the corpse crowd. While you’re partying it up with the deceased, make sure your dance mix includes these favorites:
-Heads will Roll by the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s
-Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
-Janie’s Got a Gun by Aerosmith
-Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People
-Goodbye Earl by The Dixie Chicks
-Cellblock Tango from Chicago the Musical
-I Shot the Sherriff by Bob Marley

With the right makeup, food coloring, and red paint, you’re on the fast track to a murderous monster mash.

WM Events on Grace Ormonde’s Website
Grace Ormonde knows what she’s doing- especially when it comes to weddings. That’s why we were so delighted to have one of our event photos selected in her inspirational gallery. Courtney and Chuck’s organic wedding in Boulder, CO was truly magnificent, and people took notice. It garnered attention all across the event planning world, gaining a nomination for both a Special Event Award and an Icon Award. National and Colorado-based publications were in a furry to get a hold of the details. A special thanks goes out to Shamane’s Bake Shoppe, based in Boulder, and David Wegwart, from Denver for making this happen! So see how the WM Events cake stacks up to others in the Grace Ormonde Inspiration Gallery.

Viva Las Vegas! WM Events Plans the Billups’ Renewal
To celebrate 10 extraordinary years of marriage, NBA basketball star, Chauncey Billups and his wife Piper, played host to their closest friends and family for a weekend full of memories and merriment in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada. Guests romped around the Vegas Strip on Friday night, celebrated with ceremony and reception on Saturday, and brunched away to the tune of a gospel choir on Sunday morning. The happy couple, along with their three beautiful daughters, gave everyone in attendance a blissful and unforgettable getaway at a desert oasis.
You may have already seen our Facebook Album or Social Albumon the website. But just in case you didn’t, here are the pictures from our recent adventures in Las Vegas. Contact us for any and all of your event planning needs!
The events began with a celebratory toast on the evening of Friday, July 22nd at the Loews Lake Las Vegas lobby for all to gather and reconnect. After a delicious meal at the MGM’s Pearl restaurant, everyone enjoyed the Boom Box Room at the premiere Marquee Club in the ultra modern Cosmopolitan Hotel.

For the ceremony, alternative violinist, Bobby Yang, and his ensemble welcomed the attendees as they arrived, dressed in all white, on the outside Lotus Court overlooking the serene lake. Large, white weather balloons floated in the distance while tropical phalaenopsis and dendrobium orchids wrapped the railing behind the altar.

The party enjoyed a cocktail hour before moving upstairs to the Baraka Ballroom for dinner and dancing. Calligraphed escort cards in coordinating white and Tiffany Blue were placed on a mirrored table, accented with orchids and large, reflective jewels.  As guests made their way past white lounge furniture and a customized bar, they were offered signature blue cocktails before they found their flawlessly elegant tables. A combination of LED light walls, custom gobos, jewel tone up-lights throughout the room, and pinspotting at each table set the mood with dramatic lighting. White leather crocodile tables were surrounded by clear acrylic ghost chairs and topped with an elaborate arrangement.
DJ Nabs spun in front of a LED light wall for guests sporting their complimentary fashion sunglasses and flip flops. White, leather furniture groupings, nestled with Tiffany Blue accent pillows were perfect seats for the projection of the original wedding video from 10 years ago. Partying late into the night, guests then returned to their room where a strawberry dipped chocolate awaited them for a sweet, goodnight treat.
The next morning, everyone awoke refreshed and ready to experience a Gospel Brunch for the ages in the Loews’ Marssa restaurant. The 6 piece ensemble sang for an eager crowd as friends and family enjoyed traditional brunch favorites. The Billups family thanked everyone for attending and offered them safe travels as they all made their way home.

WM Events Lunching Above Town!
As you might have noticed from our Twitter yesterday, we joined some wonderful wedding planners for a luncheon at the top of the Melia Hotel in downtown Atlanta. The 360 degree views of Atlanta were extraordinary! Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres preceeded a fashion show of wedding dresses from the Randi Lawrence Moore Couture Wedding Gown Salon. Then, we all sat down for a delicious lunch- which ended with an even more delicious cupcake! It’s always nice to visit with other planners and industry professionals to suggest tips, to share triumphs, and to dish on bridezillas.
Undoubtedly, the best part was when I won a $50 gift certificate in the raffle!!! Thanks so much to Lois Bourne for hosting a great event. Everything (the decor, the linens, the candles, and the printing) was right on point.

Wear You Live: Atlanta & Denver
Do you check in with Kickstarter often? Because if not, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Filled with creative ideas and worthy causes, Kickstarter bridges the gap between great ideas and great funding. Our most recent love is the Wear You Live collection of city map soft goods. Shirts, Prints, Pillows, and Totes branded with the figure ground maps of over 11 cities (Atlanta and Denver included!) across the United States let you show off your favorite metros with pride. The most creative touch, however is the pin button you can attach to the products (seen below in the tote picture). Luckily, the WYL team has already met and exceeded their backing goal. So go ahead over to the site and wear where you live!
